Teleportation
This topic was discussed by a friend of mine (Invertation) and myself. This is what we had decided on.
1. Teleportation would be impossible because it is the destruction and re-creation of atoms, which is impossible.
2. If, persay you decided to look at the molecular structure and then decide to copy it at the destination, then transferring all thoughts there (pretending we had a way of doing that) or recreating and putting those thoughts into that brain it would be a clone, and not the original character.
With those conclusions we found it to be impossible. Then talking to a different friend we were thinking about transferring objects NOT humans.
i.e. Why go get milk, when the milk can come to you.
Discuss, and please don't say *Well we never thought cell phones would be possible so we'll figure this out* It is similar to how people think a miraculous cure will be found for global warming, that is another day.
OK, so lets start!

Well, what a coincidence. On Wednesday night's Coast to Coast with George Noory show, was a guest who claims he was part of a secret US government teleportation program called 'Project Pegasus' (you can google Project Pegasus or Andrew Basiago). He claims that Nicola Tesla had drawn up schematics for a teleportation device, and that when he died, the CIA and Defense Department confiscated everything of his, and started secret development of some of his works (hence this).
Allow me to quote:
~~~~~~~~~Appearing during all 4 hours of the show, attorney Andrew D. Basiago discussed his experiences within a secret DARPA program-- "Project Pegasus," and what he claimed to be the true history of U.S. time travel research and teleportation technology. As a child, he said his father volunteered him to be inducted into the experimental program, as a "trainee/guinea pig" from the years 1969 to 1972. He described being teleported from a location in Woodbridge, NJ to Santa Fe, NM via a device derived from Tesla technology. A "cavern" opens up into the fabric of time-space that is wrapped around the "teleportees" as they are repositioned to a new location, he explained, adding that it's more like the TV show Sliders than the teleporters on Star Trek.~~~~~~~~~
/quote. So, according to some, this form of teleportation (which sounds like bending spacetime, which is a very well-known phenomena) might somehow be possible, where as getting disintegrated then reintegrated probably isn't (ala Star Trek teleporters).
If we were able to access a form of subspace within our own realities it'd be possible for teleportation. Granted, this would be purely technological. Creating a subspace fold to instantly transport one's self to a location.
Would be cool to have an actual ability (physical not technological) to be able to teleport yourself. If we ever find the key to human evolution it may be possible in some generation in the future.
Anyway back to my original thought. If you were able to create a subspace fold it would be possible to use that fold to transport yourself. But then again a power like this would be along the lines of a black hole. Way too dangerous to even being to ponder it at this point in our technological life.
I believe we have as much of a chance of finding this as we do of finding that inside every black hole is a little man with a flash light searching for a circuit breaker.
Teleportation has already been achieved by scientists. Not on humans, but between two Atoms.
Teleportation is easy, all you need is an engineer.
The atoms themselves weren't teleported-- just their properties.
Perfect teleportation would involve the instantaneous destruction and recreation of an atom, like Talisk said. Perfection can't be achieved in an imperfect, changing world, though.
Research by IBM suggests it's theoretically possible. *fairly easy read compared to some*
While not the greatest of research, it proves it possible.
Teleportation and time travel are both possible and have been done.
Just not by people.....stupid atoms.
Actually photons (particles of light) have been teleported.
I wouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions. In an endless universe teleportation could be discovered.
Have you never watched stargate?!
